Easter in Honolulu

Getting  used to the time in Hawaii,  I awoke at a respectable 7am….  after  getting up at 2am and 4am on the first two days we were here it is a relief to finally get back on a decent schedule. The picture below was taken yesterday at a park we visited on the North Shore.  The church, North Shore Christian Fellowship  has been having an Easter sunrise service there for 34 years.  We were at the Waimea Bay Beach Park when this image of a cross was captured.  The church was in preparations for the event  when we arrived  about 530pm. The choir and singers were practicing while we were taking photos on the beach,  very pretty music indeed.   Pictures were also taken  of the sunset at a park on down the road. Images of this gorgeous Easter Eve sunset will be posted sometime soon..  Surfers abound, even this late in the evening.  Surfing is a HUGE deal in Hawaii and the North Shore is supposed to offer some of the best opportunities for huge waves.  We had heard however, that today was not a good day to be surfing.. so the waves may not have been that big.   I am not sure what we are going to do today,  we are going to have a lazy day.. even though everything seems to be business as usual here in Honolulu.   I admittedly will miss a traditional Easter dinner that we could be having at home… but then I go outside and see everything that is beautiful in Honolulu then feel very grateful that we are even here.    We did do some sun bathing this morning….  there is something about being here that is almost magical… it will be depressing to go back home! We thought about going kayaking, but not sure if we are going to do that today or not… I am still sore from yesterday hiking up Diamond Head.
